Passion for Promarkers - Girl Power...

Good morning, crafty friends and a Happy, if a little chilly, Tuesday to you all! Can't believe how fast these weeks are going by, but I'm loving the lighter mornings, longer days and the hint of what's to come, with all the buds on the trees and plants!
We have a new challenge starting over at Passion for Promarkers and this week it's the lovely Hazel in the hostess chair with an easy peasy theme of 'Girl Power'...so we'd like to see all those makes for the ladies and girls in our lives!
We're being sponsored by the wonderful A Day for Daisies, who are offering one lucky winner a $12.00 voucher to their online store...how cool is that?!
We were lucky enough to choose an image to play with, so I went with the ever so sweet Strawberry Cake Birthday Fairy...
I coloured the image with my Pro/Flexmarkers and paper pieced her dress and wings for a bit of added dimension - don't those strawberries look good enough to eat?!
I raided my scrap drawers for some coordinating paper (yes I know, I still never remember to find my papers first and colour my image accordingly?!) These First Edition Love Letter papers were just perfect and I added some rich red and brown polka dot ribbon to coordinate with the cake and of course, a cake that big would need a spoon....I'm a lady don't you know?! Ha, ha!

That's it from me for now - I hope you can find the time to join in with our fun challenge this week - I'm off to do a bit of housework before Mam comes over to shuffle some paper around, in preparation for next workshop! Have a totally terrific Tuesday and I hope you can dodge the wintery showers - stay warm, my lovelies!
Hugs,

18th birthday card...

Good evening, dear crafty peeps! Just thought I'd pop in and share a card commission I had last week...
...I was asked to make an 18th Birthday card for a girl who liked reading, writing and football.  I decided to use the sentiment as the main focal point of the card and created some miniature books from card scraps.  I wondered how to incorporate the football theme and in the end went quite subtle with just an embossed football on the flag button...Photo corners and lots of pretty sprinkles finished the card nicely!
A quick post from me tonight as I need to get my stuff together for workshop in the morning...
Goodnight all! Hugs,

Breaking all the rules...

Good afternoon, crafty buddies! I decided to have an hour's play at my crafty table this afternoon and wanted to find out if it is possible to watercolour a digi image...well, the answer is yes, sort of!?! Though I did break most of the rules of watercolour in the process!  Firstly, printer ink is water based - not a good mix when it comes to watercolouring, but if you heatset the ink once printed and you're careful to use only the slightest amount of water on your brush, it's doable! Secondly, I don't have any watercolour card - now I'm sure this would have made my life a lot easier, but I printed my image onto the back of 250gsm linen cardstock (I'm pretty sure it had a bit of a coating on it, but what the heck!)...I know it's far from perfect...partly due to the fact that I haven't watercoloured in years, but I think it turned out okay?! Yes, the lines got a little fuzzy in places and my blending could've been better, but I just like the soft, hand painted effect that you don't get from alcohol pens...
When I'd finished my image and mounted it all onto my card, I stood it on my table and thought...'mmm, something's missing?'...now if I had half a brain, I would've thought to do a nice doodly border before I started, but no...everything was stuck down and finished - there was nothing else for it...out came the black border peel offs! Aaarghh!...
...5 minutes later, I was quite pleased with the stitchy look that the peel off borders had given and proceeded to get out my camera and take a pic to share...
Sometimes it's nice to just 'have a go' and see what happens - worst case scenario I'd have been chucking a piece of card in the recycling, best case scenario, I've ended up with a card I would be happy to send to someone...bonus!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend - we're hoping to get final preparations done to Daisy, ready for the camping season...all we need now is a bit of nice weather and we're sorted!
Hugs,

Passion for Promarkers - It's a Boy...

Good morning, crafty friends and a Happy Tuesday to you all! Today is the start of a new challenge for Passion for Promarkers, although it is tinged with a little sadness as it would have been the lovely and talented Eileen's turn to host. Eileen thought you might need a break from all things girly after last week's challenge, so she decided she would simply like you to make a creation for the boys! Easy peasy, right?!
This week our generous sponsor is Sasayaki Glitter, who are offering one lucky winner a digi image of their choice from their online store.  Don't forget, to be eligible to win the prize, you must use your Letraset/Winsor & Newton products and follow the challenge theme...

We were lucky enough to choose an image to play with, so I went with Shy in the Sky...
I coloured him up with my Pro/Flexmarkers and 3D paper pieced him for a bit more dimension...
...My Lawn Fawn Fluffy Clouds border die came out again - I just LOVE these dies - and I added a couple of extra clouds (because you can never have too many!?!) on foam pads.  The paper is from the Travel set of Another Play on Words and I finished off with string and a bow...No glitter and no pearls...am I ill or something?!
I hope you can find the time to join in with our fun challenge this week, in tribute to the lovely Eileen and look forward to seeing your fabulous creations!
Hugs,
I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges :

XBox card...

Good evening, lovely Blogger buddies!  I thought I would pop on and share a card commission I made at the end of the week for a neighbour's son.  I was given the theme XBox - something I am all too familiar with, with my little man!...
...I printed off an image of an XBox controller and used it as a template to create a topper made from coloured cardstock and enamel dots, coloured with my Promarkers.  I was really pleased with how it turned out and hope that Ben likes it too!
It's short and sweet from me tonight - we've had a bit of an eventful weekend, plus I'm off to make homemade pizza for tea!

A new disc...maybe?!...

Good evening, dear crafty friends! For those of you who do not follow me on Facebook, I thought I would let you all in on the news that I am currently working on a new papercraft disc!  It has a floral theme and I have thoroughly enjoyed drawing the designs for this disc...
Although there is no definite release date, I am hoping that it won't take too long to complete and should be available sometime this Spring...I know, rather vague, but to be honest setting a deadline just adds pressure and then I lose the enjoyment of creating! I am quite pleased with how the images have turned out  -I don't think I will ever be completely satisfied, as I am totally my own worst critic - but here's a sneak peek of a few of the designs...

Hope you like them...
Hugs,
