Passion for Markers - Dies and/or Punches...

Good morning, crafty buddies! We have a brand new challenge starting today over at Passion for Markers...

The lovely Marie is in the hostess chair and she's given us a super easy theme of 'Dies and/or Punches'...it doesn't matter what type of project you make, as long as you use a die cut or punched element and use the marker pens of your choice, you will be eligible to be in with a chance of winning this week's prize...

We're being sponsored by the wonderful Di's Digistamps who are offering one lucky winner a $6.00 voucher to spend in their online store...

As it's my little sister's birthday today (Happy Birthday Colleen!) I decided to get ahead and make a card to send to her on her special day...

I used the ever so sweet Saturated Canary image, Love Letters, but changed the letter in her hand into a present by adding some glitter strips and a bow...

The pretty floral paper is from Make and Create 'Moments' 12x12 paper pad from The Works. I added a grosgrain ribbon border and then used my favourite little flower die set from Sweet Dixie, Delicate Blossoms and leaf die from Sizzix Funky Floral #2. I wanted to add her name somewhere on the card, but didn't want it to take centre stage and overwhelm everything else, so cut it from white card using alphabet dies.  Some gems and sprinkles finished everything off...

I hope you can find the time to play along with our super simple challenge this week and look forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations!

Hugs,

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges :

Passion for Promarkers - Geeks...

Good morning, dear Blogger friends!  Today sees the start of another new challenge over at Passion for Promarkers and this week, the lovely Lou has set us the theme of 'Geeks' (images wearing glasses)!  This week, we are sponsored ny the fabulous Letraset, who are offering one lucky winner a 6 pack of Flexmarkers!

Don’t forget you must use your Letraset products (i.e. promarkers, flex markers, aqua markers, tria markers, metallic markers or neon markers) and of course follow the theme.
Looking through my digistamps, I discovered that I don't have any images wearing glasses, so decided to create my own!  I began by opening Saturated Canary's Hugs and Kisses in my graphics program and pasted the lineart sunglasses (that I found here) on top, resizing them to fit her face.  I printed off, coloured with my Promarkers and fussy cut her out, cutting away the box of hearts, heart frill and cutting out her hands, as shown by the red line in the image below :
...I then made a little book in PS and attached it to her front, then glued her hands into position over the top, so that it looks like she is holding it!

Here's the Pro/Flexmarker colours I used for all you Letraset fans :
Skin : Almond, Blush, Sunkissed Pink
Hair : Sandstone, Caramenl, Cocoa, Walnut, Umber
Glasses: Red, Berry Red
Skirt : Glacier, Dolphin, Denim, Cadet Blues
Tights : Red, Berry, Crimson, Burgundy
Boots : Soft Aqua, Duck Egg, Surf Blue, Muted Pink, Tea Rose, Watermelon, Antique Pink
Book : Berry, Crimson, Burgundy
The cherry paper I used is from Nitwits Cherry Blossom paper set and the others I made myself.  I love this aqua and red combo and added some red satin ribbon loops and a couple of the Memory Box Precious Heart die cuts that were coloured red then glittered with Xmas Red Stickles...
I cut the sentiment using a SB circle die and layered onto SB Eyelet Circle in aqua (all my mats were white cardstock with the edges coloured in coordinating Promarker colours) and created a little arrow shape.  I finished the inside with an insert printed with the words 'Many Happy Returns' and a small pile of books in the bottom right corner.
Don't foget to hop on over to the Passion for Promarkers blog see what my lovely Teamies have created for your inspiration and I hope you can join in with our challenge this week!  Thanks for dropping by, crafty hugs,
Lisa x

Passion for Promarkers - Give us a P...

Good morning, dear Blogger friends! I hope you are all well and ready for a new challenge over at Passion for Promarkers?!  This week, it is our lovely Julie in the hot seat and for her theme this week, she's gone with 'Give us a P...', so anything on your card or project that begins with a P!  This week we are sponsored by the fabulous Dies to Die For, who are offering one lucky winner a £10.00 voucher for their store...awesome!
Don’t forget you must use your Letraset products (i.e. promarkers, flex markers, aqua markers, tria markers, metallic markers or neon markers) and of course follow the theme.
I decided to go with 'P is for' Promarkers, patterned papers, paper piecing and pearls, but you could always be a bit more adventurous and go for pumpkins, pirates, poppies, parcels, or even parrots!
...The papers I used are all First Edition Boho Chic - I love the different colour tones in this pad as it always makes me think differently with colour (and stay away from pink!)  I went for a quite simple layout and minimal embellishments, to create a CAS look...
...I used the fabulous Saturated Canary Nevaeh image, coloured with my Promarkers and paper pieced with First Edition Boho Chic dotty paper, here's the colours for all you Letraset-ers!
Skin : Satin, Blush, Dusky, Sunkissed Pink
Hair : Rosewood, Auburn, Firebrick, Saddle Brown, Nutmeg
Dress : Nutmeg, Vanilla, Linen, Red, Crimson, Burgundy
Tights : Sea Mist, Tea Green
Shoes : Nutmeg, Vamilla, Linen, Tan
...I added some little ribbon tabs and hand drew a cloud shape to cut out one of my sentiments and SB circle die for the other, then finished with some pearls and a touch of Glamourdust glitter.  Hope you like my little creation and don't forget to hop on over to the Passion for Promarkers blog to see what my wonderful teamies have been up to - as ever, they have some fabulous inspiration!
Hugs,
Lisa x

P.S. Today is supposed to be 'D' day for the works to start on our house (only 4 months late!) so I will probably be up to my eyeballs in dust and debris!  I have managed to get all my DT cards, orders and workshop cards organised and I'm hoping that the router will be on for as much as possible, so I can still come and visit you all!  I am DREADING the mess and upheaval, but it will all be worth it in the end and hopefully, with any luck, might even be finished for Christmas! (My Christmas will be spent decorating!)  I will be absent between times, but will try to post you some updates if I'm able to get online - I woud also like to thank you all for still coming to see me despite my posts being thin on the ground at the moment, it really does mean a lot and I hope that come the new year, I can get back into crafting and blogging properly!

Passion for Promarkers - Lou's Sketch

Hello again, lovely Bloggers!  As you are reading this, it will be almost 2 months since I scheduled this post!  I'm hoping that by now, all of the messy work that is due to take place on our house will be completed and we will be back to some sort of normality...or organised chaos, in our case!  If all has gone to plan, we should have a new bathroom, kitchen, central heating and complete rewire and I will hopefully be picking out paint colours and wallpaper by now!  I'll let you know if it's any different!

Anyway, today sees the start of a new challenge over at Passion for Promarkers and this week, the lovely Lou has set us a nice and easy Sketch...
...and this week, we are spospored by the fabulous Saturated Canary who is offering one lucky winner the choice of two digis from her store...

Don’t forget you must use your Letraset products (i.e. promarkers, flex markers, aqua markers, tria markers, metallic markers or neon markers) and of course follow the theme.
...I decided to use a new image that I bought today (well, I bought it 2 months ago now, but hey ho!)...

...This is sweet Oklahoma and the lovely Krista offered her for just a dollar in her shop, for one day, with the proceeds going to a family who were affected by the recent tornado in Moore, Oklahoma (how cool is that?!)  The card was made using First Edition Boho Chic paper pad and this tulip paper is one of my faves...man, I say that a lot, but it is!!
...I coloured Oklahoma with my Pro/Flexmarkers and here's the colours I used :
Skin : Blush, Dusky Pink, Sunkisssed Pink
Hair : Rosewood, Firebrick, Saddle Brown, Spice
Dress : Light Fawn, Soft Peach, Rose Peach, Spice, Ivory, Vanilla, Mustard, Red
Wellies : Meadow, Leaf, Birght, Forest Greens
Bow and puddle : Soft Aqua, Cool Aqua, Duck Egg, Surf Blue
Umbrella : Ivory, Vanilla, Mustard, Light Fawn, Soft Peach, Rose Peach, Spice, Blush, Dusky, Sunkissed Pink, Meadow, Leaf, Bright Green, Pumpkin, Mandarin
Shadow : Sea Mist
I cut some cloud shapes from white card and glittered then used the waste from the bows on my Precious Stars die to make the raindrops.  I chose the sentiment as I thought it fit the image perfectly and cut out using standard and eyelet SB circle dies...
...As always, I finished with an insert with the black and white line image and the sentiment ' May your day be filled with sunshine'  I'm giving this to my BF for her Birthday which is (was) in June!
It's a bit weird writing my post for the middle of August in June, but I had to get ahead in order to keep up with my DT duties and to have some inspiration to share with you!  Hope you're all having  a wonderful Summer and that the fickle British weather is being kind!  Crafty hugs, Lisa x

Passion for Promarkers - Create a Scene

Good morning, dear Blogger friends and welcome to another fabulous Challenge for Passion for Promarkers!  Our theme this week has been set by the lovely Lou and she would like us to 'Create a Scene', i.e. cloud background, etc.  For this challenge, we are sponsored by the wonderful Digi Stamp Boutique who are offering one lucky winner the chance to choose 6 digi images from their shop (thanks, Sally-Ann!), such a great prize!
Don’t forget you must use your Letraset products (i.e. promarkers, flex markers, aqua markers, tria markers, metallic markers or neon markers) and of course follow the theme.
...So, without further ado, here's what I made...
...I kept the card quite CAS, making a feature of the image and background scene.  I am enjoying playing around with my images at the moment, so this one is Saturated Canary's Jules, but with a bit missing!
...I coloured Jules with my Pro/Flexmarkers, but left out some of the image, then cut around to get this...
Here's the colours I used for all you Letraset fans :
Skin : Blush, Dusky, Sunkissed Pink
Hair : Ivory, Vanilla, Mustard, Gold, Sandstone, Caramel
Dress : Red, Crimson, Berry, Burgundy
Tights : Soft Aqua, Duck Egg, Surf Blue
Shoes : Satin, Tan, Cinnamon
Cat : Blue Grey 1, Cool Grey 3, Pastel Pink, Cocktail Pink
...I created the sky background using Glacier Blue, Dolphin Blue and Cloud Blue and added grass near the base using a selection of greens (I just kept adding strokes until I was happy with it).  I created the fence using my SB Parisian Accents border die, some thin strips of white card and the border waste.  Finally, I embellished with a touch of glitter, some small punched flowers and a satin bow for her hair.
I haven't had a go at background scenes very much, so I was quite pleased with how this turned out and am starting to gain a bit more confidence to have a go - I think creating the scene separately and adding a cut out image makes it easier to have a go as you won't ruin your coloured image if you bodge it up! (As I did the first time around!)  So go on, get your pens out and have a play around at making background scenes, you might just surprise yourself and don't forget to link it up to play along with our fab challenge this week!  Remember to hop over to the Passion for Promarkers blog to see what my wonderful teamies have been up to and grab some inspiration!
Thanks for looking and enjoy your week!  Hugs,
Lisa x

Clean and simple times three...

Good afternoon, my dear blogger friends!  My, these weeks are just flying by and what wonderful weather we've been having - it was fabulous for getting the washing done, but not so much for crafting!  Everytime I walked into my craftroom, the sunshine called me back outside again!  We've been gardening, barbecuing, relaxing, swimming and my little man got man of the match in his footie game last Friday...such a proud Mamma and a chuffed little boy, too!  He has a match again tonight, so fingers crossed the rain stays away and he has a good game!
Anyhow, I managed to sit at my crafty table...well, to be honest, I was sat at it most of Monday, yesterday and today as I had 3 card orders to make, then Mum and I spent yesterday trying to get ahead with workshop cards (very trying!) and the same again today!  In between all this cardmaking, I managed to get a couple of hours to colour...oh, I do LOVE to colour!  I decided to make a few CAS cards after being inspired by the lovely Delphine - I love how simple her cards are, just showcasing the image and her fabulous colouring!  So this is what I knocked up in a few hours of therapeutic colouring...
...This first card was made using Wee Stamps Dreamy Dragon - he is just adorable!  I glittered his scales and the flower centres with Stardust Stickles, but it doesn't show very well in the image!
Body - Soft Aqua, Cool Aqua, Duck Egg, Surf Blue
Scales - Meadow, Leaf, Bright, Forest Greens
Wings and feet - Soft Fawn, Soft Peach, Rose Peach
Tree - Sandstone, Caramel, Saddle Brown
Flowers - Vanilla
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges -
BINGO
(Ribbon, Pearls, Sparkle/Glitter)
Fantasy
Fantasy and/or Fairies
...Next up, I made a card using Digi Stamp Boutique's Alyssa Relaxing and paper pieced the bath with a paper from First Edition's Dreamcatcher pad.
Skin - Blush, Dusky, Sunkissed Pink
Hair - Sandstone, Caramel, Cocoa, Henna, Umber
Bath top and feet - Ivory, Vanilla, Sandstone
Pillow - Pale Blossom, Pale Pink, Sorbat
Bottle - Pale Citrus, Aniseed, Pear Green
Bow - Cocktail Pink, Vermillion
Shadow on bath - Dove Grey, Dolphin Blue
Shadow - Pastel Beige
I would like to enter this card into the following challenge -
O for Open (Anything Goes)
...Last up, I used Saturated Canary's Hugs and Kisses digistamp.  I wanted to make the colours a little brighter, so decided to colour her hair in purple...
Skin - Blush, Dusky, Sunkissed Pink
Hair - Orchid, Wild Orchid, Purple, Slate
Skirt - Dolphin, Denim, Cadet, Navy Blues
Heart - Cerise, Vermillion
Boots - Pink Pearl, Sorbet, Fuschia Pink, Lavender, Orchid, Wild Orchid, Soft Khaki, Sandstone, Caramel
Box - Soft Khaki, Sandstone, Caramel
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges :
Mad about Markers
Anything Goes
...I really like CAS cards and I managed to make these three in the same amount of time it would take to make a 'normal' card with all the layers!  Hope the fine weather comes back again soon and I'm going to need it over the summer holidays as the council are planning to modernise our house...I am terrified at the thought of having to try and pack up as much of our things as possible and of the mess that the work will entail, but I will be so glad when it is all done and I can decorate everywhere as I want.  It will be a lot of work and unfortunately is likely to mean I will be absent from blogging for a while, but I will still be able to come and visit you all on my tablet and hope to get ahead enough with my DT duties that I shan't have to miss any challenges...fingers crossed!  Thanks for coming to visit me today and I hope you like my quick and easy cards...see you soon, Lisa x

Passion for Promarkers - All that Glitters

Good morning, crafty friends!  Firstly, I must apologise for being AWOL this last fortnight, only I have been busy making wedding invitations for a friend who was home this last week and the children have been off school.  We've been having some wonderful weather and so some of my time has been spent trying to get on top of my jungle of a garden too - it got nothing done to it last year, apart from cutting the grass, so it is a bit of a mountainous job now!  Peas and carrots are planted, potatoes are chitting, lawns have been tamed and one of my beds has been dug over and gravelled with pots on.  It was a nice excuse for me and little man to go down to our local garden centre and pick out a few annual plants, whilst he was on holiday and of course, we had to have lunch in the cafe too, sharing a berry sundae for dessert!

Anyway, it's back to normality this week and already time for another challenge over at Passion for Promarkers and we're sponsored this week by the fabulous Letraset, who are offering a Flexmarker Collectors set to one lucky winner.
The lovely Vicky is setting the theme this week and she's chosen 'All that glitters'  so we want to see the glitter and sparkle on your creations...
...For my DT card, I have used the fabulous Saturated Canary image, Love Letter (with a twist) and the pretty First Edition, Isabelle glittered papers to fit the theme...
...As I said, the image is SC Love Letter, but I decided to cut off the letter that she holds and replace it with the bird from Canary Love.  I printed, coloured and fussy cut out the girl, cutting off the letter in her hand...I then printed the Canary Love image and cut out the bird, then glued as if it were sitting in her hand.  Here's the list of colours I used :
Skin : Blush, Dusky Pink, Sunkissed Pink
Lips : Watermelon, Antique Pink
Hair : Nutmeg, Spice, Saddle Brown, Rosewood, Firebrick, Umber
Top : Soft Aqua, Aquamarine, Duck Egg, Surf Blue, Dove Grey, Watermelon
Jeans : Satin, Tan, Cinnamon
I glittered the little hearts on her sleeve and the heart in the bird's beak and mounted the image using a SB Oval die and Floral Oval cut from box cardboard...
...I embellished with punched flowers, Cheery Lynn leaves, handmade pins (made by Mandy, thanks sweetie!), organza ribbon, LOTS of diamantes for more sparkle and a Martha Stewart clay ornate frame for the sentiment...
...On the inside, I added a panel with the wording '...it's your Birthday.  Many Happy Returns' and the line image of the Canary Love bird.
I really like the aqua, pink and brown colour combo and just adore making embellishments from the fabulous MS clay (it really is like nothing else you've ever felt!), I think these will be making more of an appearance in the future and I'm pandering after some UTEE to have a play too!
Apologies again for my absence and I hope you like my little crafty creation.  We'd love it if you could join in with our Challenge this week and don't forget to hop on over to the Passion for Promarkers blog to see what wonderful creations my lovely teamies have been making!  Thanks for dropping by and enjoy your week - it's supposed to be sunshine all the way this week here in Wales (we'll see!?!), so might try to get another patch of garden tamed!  Crafty hugs, Lisa x

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges :
Anything Goes
Divas
Tic, Tac, Toe
(I've gone with Gems, Ink (image coloured with Promarkers) and Ribbon)

(I've used both!)

Friends are the flowers...

Good afternoon, lovely Bloggers!  How are you all today?  I hope that the sun is shining wherever you are and that you are keeping warm in this unseasonally cold May (here in the UK).  I am currently contemplating lighting the fire as my hands are blooming freezing!  Talking of blooming, my card today features the lovely Grow digistamp from Saturated Canary that Krista kindly offered as a freebie to celebrate Mother's Day in the US...(how about that for a link?!)...
...As you can see, the orange has made a comeback!  I used some lovely papers from First Edition Boho Chic (this has to be one of my all time favourite pads), My Martha Stewart PATP Lace punch, SB Standard and Petite Scalloped Ovals and a part of my new Memory Box Corner Bow die...
... I coloured the sweet SC image with my Pro/Flexmarkers and added a touch of Stickles to the flower centres and a flower in her hair, using an XCut mini flower punch with a diamante centre.  I tried to colour her hair with a bit more contrast by adding black to the shading - I think I need a bit more practice, but it's not bad!?!  Here's the colours I used, if you're a Promarker fan :
Skin : Satin, Blush, Pale Pink, Dusky Rose
Hair : Black, Rosewood, Auburn, Firebrick, Nutmeg
Clothes : Lime Zest, Lime, Pear and Olive Green, Pastel, Cadet and Celestial Blue, Tea Rose, Watermelon
Plant Pot : Soft Peach, Coral, Spice
Tights : Blue Grey 1, Watermelon, Antique Pink
Shoes : Light Fawn, Soft Peach, Honeycomb, Spice, Ivory, Vanilla, Mustard, Sandstone, Caramel
Flower : Pink Lavender, Orchid, Wild Orchid
...I created the sentiment in PS using a few different fonts and added a bit of Stickles to the word flowers.  To embellish, I added a Memory Box Corner Bow which I cut down and somemore punched flowers with diamante centres.  I also added some Pearl maker to the scalloped square and lace square edges...
...To finish off, as always, I added an insert with 'Happy Birthday to a Special Friend' and the black and white line image...and that's it!  I hope you like my little creation and thank you for dropping by to see me.  A huge welcome to my latest followers Lauren and Angela - thank you for following my little blog and I hope you find inspiration in what I do!  Crafty hugs, until next time, Lisa x
I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges :

Canary love...

Good evening, lovely Blogger friends!  It's been a bit of a mixed bag of a week since I last posted...last Thursday was the funeral of a friend's daughter who was in school with my eldest and lived in our village.  It was such a sad day and to be honest I wasn't prepared for how hard it would hit me and I spent most of Friday feeling down and unmotivated.  On Friday evening, hubby's cousin came down from Scotland to stay for the weekend, so it was spent out and about, chatting, barbecueing, pitching tents for my eldest and his mates to camp (!?) and then packing it away again in the morning!  Monday and Tuesday was spent making the most of the fabulous weather and I did a bit of gardening - however, as with any project, it looks ten times worse than when I started at the moment!  I also have a friend's wedding invites to do and the prospect of having to make 100 of the same thing makes me hyperventilate, but I have at least made a start!  So, that's why today I decided I would sit at my crafty table and create something to share with you all!
I was inspired by the lovely Jane's card - I adore her patchwork background and though I don't have the hexagon dies (this may have to be an investment in the near future!) I decided to have a go at a quilt style background using triangles...
(I must apologise for the rubbish photos in advance, but I had to use the flash to take them!)
Like Jane, I made a criss-cross card using my new First Edition Dreamcatcher paper pad...love this purple, pink and lemon combo!  After creating the patchwork pieces, I decided to prick the edges to add to the fabric feel, then had the bright idea to hand stitch them!?! Oh my word!  I now have the utmost respect for all you ladies who hand stitch your cards...it takes FOREVER!  By the time I had got half way down the second edge, I was starting to regret my decision and by the second piece I was getting tetchy!  After all that, I wonder if it was really worth it and next time I'll probably just get out my fineliner pen!?!
...The image I used is SC Canary Love and she was coloured with my Pro/Flexmarkers (the more I use my Flexmarkers, the more I love them!)  Here's the colours for all you Letraset fans :
Skin : Satin, Dusky Pink, Sunkissed Pink
Hair : Champagne, Sandstone, Caramel, Saddle Brown, Cocoa
Top : Muted Pink, Honeydew, Watermelon, Antique Pink
Dress : Pink Lavender, Orchid, Wild Orchid, Red Violet, Cloud Blue, Celestial, Sapphire, Royal Blue, Ivory, Vanilla, Mustard
Shoes : Ivory, Vanilla, Mustard, Muted Pink, Honeydew, Watermelon, Champagne, Sandstone
Bird : Ivory, Vanilla, Tulip Yellow
...I used some of my favourite Marianne Dies to make the doily and added some rich, polka dot, purple ribbon...
...I used some of the triangles to decorate the corners of the insert and a simple sentiment in the centre.  I also made a stand for the card to sit on using the template from A Year in Cards.   For those of you who are beady eyed, you will notice my latest crafty addition...
...Yes, I gave in and ordered the stunning Memory Box Precious Hearts dies and you'll never guess what happened?!  The Precious Stars and Corner Bow just fell into my basket too!!  Love them all!
I'd just like to say a big 'Hi!' to my latest follower Ali - welcome to my little corner of Blogland and I hope you come back often!  I have also been quite lucky recently and won 4 digis at Crafts4Eternity, a bundle of delicious ribbons from Crafty Ribbons and then discovered that I was the lucky winner of Mandy's pin candy - can't wait to get those! (This lady makes the most beautifully embellished cards, if you've not been over to visit her, it's well worth a look in my opinion!) So, that's it from me for another day and I hope to be back with some more crafty creations before long...thank you so much for dropping by and if you'd like to leave me a comment, I'd love to hear from you - they really are very much appreciated!  Crafty hugs, Lisa x

Is Spring around the corner?...

Good afternoon, dear Bloggers!  Well, it seems as though Spring might be making an appearance at last!  The sun is still shining and the temperature is creeping up ever so slowly - we're supposed to get into double digits by the weekend!  The flowers are trying to force their way up through the ground and the birds are frantically nest building, plus I haven't had to keep the fire in this morning for the first time since before Christmas! (I'm starting to feel it now though and might just have to set it after writing this!)
So, to try and think of brighter skies and warmer days, I decided to colour an image with a much brighter palette.  I've got some lovely colours in my new Flexmarkers, so just had to give them a go and this is what was created...
...I just love this hot pink and aqua combo and it all started because of my Vermillion pen which I was desperate to use (this colour is delish!)...
...The image is Jules from Saturated Canary and I've coloured using my Pro and Flexmarkers.  Here's the pen colours for all you Pro-markers :
Skin : Blush, Dusky Pink, Rose Peach
Hair : Sandstone, Caramel, Saddle Brown, Cocoa, Walnut, Umber
Dress : Cerise, Shocking Pink, Vermillion, Maroon, Aquamarine, Duck Egg, Surf Blue, Cool Grey 3 & 1
Bow :  Cerise, Shocking Pink, Vermillion, Maroon
Tights : Sorbet, Fuschia, Shocking Pink
Cat : Blue Grey 1, Dolphin Blue, Pale Pink
Shoes : Cool Grey 1,3 & 5
The backrgound paper is from First Edition Love letters and the rest are just some pieces I found in my stash...
...I added an insert inside with the line image and a Birthday verse on and used aqua grosgrain, pearls and Glamourdust to embellish.  I'm really pleased with how this one turned out and especially love the bright colouring (something I'm going to try to do more of instead of playing it safe!), it's quite girly and feminine without being too froo-froo!  Thanks for dropping by to see me and I hope you are all having a good week - can't believe it's the weekend again after tomorrow! Happy crafting, Lisa x
I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges :

What a difference a day makes...

Good evening, lovely Bloggers!  The fickle British weather never ceases to amaze me...from sunshine and freezing temperatures, to torrential rain and now, this was the view from our window this evening...
...snow...aaaghhhh!!!  I thought Spring was on it's way!  I left Mum's house after our workshop this afternoon and it was grey, but dry...about 7 miles down the road, it was raining quite heavily, then a further 2 miles along, there was thick snow and snowing heavens hard.  By the time I got home, the snowflakes were the size of doilies and everywhere now has a blanket of white - very pretty but a right pain in the rear!!
Anyway, enough of my weather forecast, or should that be pastcast?!  I have another Saturated Canary card to share today, this one is Rose Red...
...I made the card using the fab sketch at Simon Says Stamp Challenge (how did I ever do without sketches?!)  The background is embossed with Embossalicious folder Floral Frenzy, my favourite folder of the moment, and the papers are First Edition (I think, Summer Breeze)...
...I coloured Rose with my Promarkers and paper pieced her dress with a paper from First Edition Boho Chic.  I have been trying different skin tones and used the same combo as for the Larakins, giving her a bit more colour!  Here's the colours for all you Pro-markers...
Skin - Blush, Dusky Pink, Pastel Pink
Hair - (new brown combo for a change) Tan, Shale, Umber, Black FM (I find the black Flexmarker ismuch easier to use and blend)
Dress - Pale Pink, Cocktail Pink, Antique Pink, Amaranth Red FM
Tree - Sandstone, Caramel, Cocoa
Bird - Buttercup, Tulip, Sunflower FM
Eggs - Aquamarine FM, Surf Blue FM
...Once again, I decorated the inside to match and added a red satin ribbon and bow.  Hope you like my card and thanks again for dropping by, it's much appreciated!  Hugs, Lisa x
I'd like to enter my cards into the following challenges :

A promise fulfilled...

Good evening, crafty friends!  Hope you all had a good Mother's Day weekend and that you're keeping warm if you're here in the UK with these freezing conditions - and for those of you in the South, I hope that the snow isn't causing too much trouble...all we can hope is that this might mean we get some semblance of a Summer this year!
Last year, I made a promise to myself that I would learn to crochet and after watching a couple of YouTube videos, I managed to make half a dozen crochet flowers!  So, when I noticed a book on learning to crochet in the book club at our village school, I thought it about time to fulfill my promise to myself and bought it.  I began last Wednesday and sat at first just making a sort of sampler, practising stitches, then soon got bored!  Flicking through the book and skipping all the beginners projects (I am a very imaptient crafter!) I found a project that I liked which it said was for "improvers"...well, "I'm improving", I thought!!  It was for a shell stitch scarf...
...the title was for a Chunky Seashell Scarf, only problem being that I only have a 3.5 needle and some double knitting wool that Mum had given me when I'd said about learning...oh, what the heck, I'll give it a go!  So, 2 balls of wool later and I have my very first crochet project - the scarf would have been longer, but I ran out of yarn...
...the first couple of rows are a bit dodgy, but I soon got to know the pattern and am quite the whizz at double treble stitches now (which is what the pattern comprises of mainly).  I plan to make a 'proper' one once I've bought myself a larger needle and some nice yarn and I hope it will grow a bit quicker than this one because of it...hubby said I was going to get repetitive stress injury because every time he looked at me I had the needle in my hand!  It is quite addictive and I found that every time I sat down for a minute, I picked it up and stitched a few rows...maybe crochet should come with a health warning?!
I have also been busy at my craft table today making cards, just to share and this is one of the creations I came up with...
...I am trying to use more colour in my projects and just love this combo of pink, orange and green.  The papers are First Edition Spring Feast, Isabella and Boho Chic and some scraps from my stash.  I love the way Tara, at Inking on the Edge, double matts her layers, so found some bright coordinating papers and when I couldn't find the colour I wanted, I turned to my trusty Promarkers and coloured the edge of some white paper instead.  I used the Saturated Canary image Boobie Love and paper pieced her top...
Colours used :
Skin - my usual combo (Satin, Dusky & Sunkissed Pink)
Hair - Light Fawn FM, Sandstone, Caramel, Cocoa, Walnut, Umber
Jeans - Light Fawn FM, Honeycomb, Pumpkin, Spice, Amaranth Red
Tee shading - Watermelon, Tea Rose
Lips and rose - Antique Pink, Waremelon, Tea rose
I added some pearls, stickles and small polka dot buttons to embellish and decorated the inside...

...I really like the finished result and am enjoying experimenting with bolder colours...I'd just like to say a big 'Hi!' and welcome to my newest follower Claudia - I have been a follower of hers for years and she makes the most beautiful card and knitted creations....if you haven't been to her blog before, it's worth a visit in my opinion!  That's it from me folks, I'll be back tomorrow with another paper creation, thanks for dropping by...crafty hugs, Lisa x
